Thoughts on Hard Work

hard work

At our peak, we were growing for growth’s sake,

we were growing to make more money,

we were growing for our egos,

and the only thing I found at the other end of that rainbow was emptiness.

I was working my ass off hauling buckets of water to fill a barrel that had a hole in it.

You can ignore the hole for a while and just run faster but eventually it catches up with you.

That is not a recipe for fulfillment, sustained happiness, and peace.

There is no glory in hard work for hard work’s sake.

If your reason for working so hard is to impress others,

to fuel your ego,

it doesn’t matter how hard you run,

you will fail.

If you are comparing your lifestyle to others and working hard to keep up, you may succeed but your success will uncover a broken foundation.

Cracks that unless repaired, will only get worse and have the potential to cause irreversible damage.

Stop, breathe, reconnect with what matters and the next step will become clear, you got this.
